“I have been able to wear some of the most beautiful dresses and feel beautiful in them, and that is why I wear them,” Johnson said. Sometimes a dress fits perfectly, while others don’t suit her at all. “It all depends on the shape, the finish, the color, and everything else. So if I find a beautiful dress that I feel comfortable in, of course I want to wear it! And it’s fun to wear a sexy dress.”
Johnson credited her mother, actress Melanie Griffith, for teaching her to embrace all parts of herself from a young age. She said,
“I think that's something very important for a young girl, because we’re constantly told that we’re not good enough. And if you’re not told from an early age by the woman you look up to the most that you’re perfect and smart and special and strong and brave, it can really break you. It’s hard to teach yourself that love again later. That was a great gift she gave me.”
