India leveled the five-match T20I series against Australia after a strong chase at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Chasing 187 runs, India's batters collectively contributed, securing victory with nine balls remaining.
At the post-match presentation, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav shared his thoughts on breaking a long losing streak in the toss and praised key players who influenced the win.
“Yes, it felt like we’d lost 19 or 20 tosses in a row, so it was great to break that streak. Winning the toss was important today, and I’m really happy with how the team performed.”
Yadav highlighted the efforts of Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh, calling it the right team combination for the match.
“Those guys were practising really hard and waiting for their chance. Washi showed great flexibility, Jitesh contributed well, and Arshdeep was outstanding. It felt like the right combination tonight.
Yes, they’re a fantastic pair (Bumrah and Arshdeep) – a bit like Shubman and Abhishek up top. Bumrah does his job quietly, keeps it tight, and Arshdeep capitalizes from the other end. Together, they’re a really lethal combination.”
Yadav expressed optimism for the upcoming matches, highlighting the series score at 1-1 as a promising setup.
“It’s (series at 1-1) set up beautifully.”
Suryakumar Yadav praised his team's balanced effort and key players for India's vital win, reflecting optimism as the series stands evenly poised.
