Simu Liu has some knowledge of what happens in Doomsday, but he remains unsure:
“Am I entirely sure that that's the version that's going to end up on the screen when the movie comes out next year? Not a whole lot.”
In Your Dreams suits Simu Liu perfectly. He not only authored a memoir in 2022 titled We Were Dreamers about dreams, but he also showcased his singing and dancing talent during an interview for Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings with The Hollywood Reporter, where he sang portions of three songs a cappella.
In Alex Woo’s animated directorial debut, Liu voices Michael Ting, a solo musician struggling to move on from the past. He and his wife Jennifer (Cristin Milioti), once bandmates in the indie folk group The Hypsonics, released a gold record twelve years ago. However, their music career paused when Jennifer became pregnant with their daughter, Stevie (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport), who is now 12 years old.
The Ting family is at a breaking point as Jennifer considers accepting a teaching job that would uproot the family, which Michael opposes. To save their family, Stevie and her younger brother Elliot (Elias Janssen) embark on a dream journey to find the Sandman (Omid Djalili), hoping he can grant their wish to keep their family together.
Through dreams and music, the story explores family, change, and holding onto hopes.
“In Your Dreams is a perfect fit for Simu Liu.”
