Three inmates have been formally charged with the murder of Kyle Bevan, a convicted child killer who was found dead in his cell at HMP Wakefield on November 5, 2025.
Mark Fellows, 45, Lee Newell, 56, and David Taylor, 63, appeared separately via video link at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Friday. Each was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Monday for a pre-trial hearing.

Kyle Bevan was imprisoned in April 2023 with a minimum term of 28 years after being convicted of murdering Lola James, his partner's two-year-old daughter, in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. The toddler suffered catastrophic head injuries during a six-hour assault in 2020.
District Judge Charlotte Holland informed the defendants they would remain in custody until the upcoming court proceedings.
“You will be remanded in custody ahead of the pre-trial preparation hearing on Monday.”
