Michael Bublé introduced the inaugural Mic Drop as the coaches cut down their teams during the Knockout Rounds in Season 28 of The Voice. This episode aired on Monday, November 3.
During the Knockouts, coaches Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé each faced tough decisions. After every head-to-head performance, one contestant was eliminated with no Saves or Steals allowed. Each coach had one Mic Drop to grant, sending a team member to compete for a chance to perform at the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. Viewers will later vote on their favorite Mic Drop artist once all four are chosen.
Team Snoop’s Toni Lorene and Natalia Albertini, both saved in the Battle Rounds, performed first. Natalia sang “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder, while Toni delivered a powerful rendition of “Lady Marmalade.”
“Natalia, your performance was spectacular, you’re gorgeous, I love your outfit,” said McEntire. “I guess if I had to pick one, I think I’d go with Natalia.”
Horan praised Toni as a “machine” and added, “The stuff you can do with your voice … there’s something special about you.” He and Bublé both leaned towards Toni’s performance.
“I am a proud uncle,” Snoop gushed.
As the Knockouts wrap up, teams prepare to move into the Playoffs with the stakes higher than ever. Coaches’ choices are final, shaping the competition ahead.
Summary: The introduction of the Mic Drop added an exciting twist to the Knockouts, with coaches making final team cuts and setting the stage for fan participation in the upcoming Playoffs.
