After two decades as the beloved weather presenter for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has confirmed she will step down from her role. Her final weather bulletin will be broadcast on Tuesday, 18 November.
Livinia joined the Nine Network in 1997 and took on the 9News Melbourne weather position in 2004. The decision to leave the weather desk comes as her two sons enter their senior school years.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.
Although she will no longer present nightly weather, Livinia will continue to appear on Nine’s popular travel shows Getaway and Postcards.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she added.
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
Livinia Nixon ends her 20-year tenure as 9News Melbourne weather presenter to focus on family, while continuing her travel show roles at Nine.
