Livinia Nixon, a beloved weather presenter who began her television career on Hey Hey, It's Saturday, is stepping back from her weeknight weather role after two decades. She will continue appearing on the travel shows Postcards and Getaway.
Nixon, 50, announced her departure from nightly weather broadcasts this November. Reflecting on her career, she shared with a laugh,
“I’ve been on air for more of my life than I’ve not. I’m looking forward to a breather.”
Choosing to step down was not easy for Nixon. She considers presenting the weather a privilege and said it has profoundly influenced her life and career. However, she wants to dedicate more time to her family as her youngest son, Ted, is starting high school alongside his older brother, Henry.
She explained,
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum’.”
One unforgettable live weather cross took place at Healesville Sanctuary where Nixon had a green tree python wrapped around her neck. She recalled,
“The snake wrapped and squeezed, then tried to slither into my jacket. I’d never read the weather as quickly in my life.”
Nixon will remain with the Nine Network, continuing her work on their travel programs, marking a new phase in her career with optimism.
