A beautiful poppy-themed art installation will feature prominently at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday, created by Maureen, a 76-year-old tenant at Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme. With support from her daughter and granddaughter, Maureen crafted a heartfelt tribute that reflects intergenerational collaboration.
Maureen developed the poppy display in the Annandale communal lounge, transforming the space into a creative center with the help of her family and Tamworth Borough Council’s Scheme Manager. The result is a stunning collection of handcrafted poppies, each representing the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have served.

The installation will be placed at the entrance of St Editha’s Church. Maureen will also accompany the Mayor of Tamworth during the Remembrance Sunday ceremonies, highlighting the importance of community and remembrance.
