Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai to the United States and taken into custody in connection with a Miami shooting case, according to a report by the Miami Herald on Thursday.
Miami Police spokesperson Mike Vega confirmed Brown's arrest.
“Miami Police confirm that U.S. Marshals have apprehended Antonio Brown and that he has been extradited to the US. No date has been set for his transfer to Miami-Dade County,”
Vega said, as reported by NBC News.
Brown had been wanted for several months over a shooting that occurred on May 16 outside an amateur boxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. Videos from the scene appeared to show the former NFL player involved in a fight before gunfire erupted. Though he was briefly detained, no charges were filed at that time.
In June, a warrant was issued for Brown’s arrest. He was given the option to surrender under a $10,000 bond and house arrest conditions, but he failed to comply. Reports indicate that his trial is expected to begin soon, and he could face a potential murder charge.
Just a week prior to his arrest, the 37-year-old shared a sponsored video on Instagram promoting an online betting platform, BC Game. In the clip, Brown was seen driving a black Lamborghini, projecting a carefree demeanor.
Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown faces serious legal trouble after extradition to the U.S., with his Miami shooting trial expected to start soon.
