A neighborhood in Brookmans Park, England, won the Millionaire Street prize in the People's Postcode Lottery. Their postal code, AL9 6PT, was announced as the winner in the latest draw.
The £1 million prize (about $1.3 million) was divided among seven residents who held tickets through the lottery’s monthly subscription. Each ticket was worth approximately £83,333 ($109,000).
Samesh Kumari, a retired fashion firm owner, received the largest share of £249,999 ($328,000). He had three tickets after subscribing in memory of his late mother, Chanchal Kumari, just four months ago.
"I think mum would be really proud. I'm not sure I did, but she was right. I've only been playing for about four months. To have won so quickly is amazing. When I signed up, I was thinking about mum. This is extra special."
Samesh dedicated his winnings to his mother’s memory.
