The British chef famous for his affinity for linen and sauvignon blanc is launching his flagship restaurant in Australia. Rick Stein will open his eagerly awaited Sydney diner on December 1.
Situated above the sands of Coogee, this venue marks a significant multimillion-dollar renovation of the InterContinental Hotel.
“ Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,Stein explained.
“ It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”
The chef, known for his preference for linen and fine glasses of pinot or sauvignon blanc, and his wife Sarah, run other restaurants in regional New South Wales: Bannisters by the Sea in Mollymook and Bannisters Port Stephens.
The debut menu, curated by head chef Colin Chun (formerly of W Taipei), emphasizes local and seasonal seafood. The dining space accommodates both casual and upscale experiences, complemented by an adjoining bar.
