Kevin Durant shared his views on marriage and relationships in a recent podcast appearance, explaining why he does not want to get married. The NBA star, 37, expressed skepticism about marriage due to the high divorce rates.
Durant said, “I think divorce is actually more of a realistic… ‘cause I mean, the percent is higher,” referring to the common statistic that about half of all marriages end in divorce. He acknowledged the odds are not favorable, stating,
“That's not good odds.”
Responding to the comparison that he often faces tougher odds in basketball, Durant replied,
“Yeah. But still, that's like banking on the rest, like, forever though. … I don't know if I want to take those odds.”
Durant clarified that his hesitation is less about the word “marriage” itself and more about the nature of the relationship. He questioned,
“Do I want to be with this somebody every day? Hang with the same person every day?”
The forward also mentioned that he never dreamed of having a wedding ceremony, saying,
“It was never really when I go to weddings. This is cool.”
Kevin Durant prefers flexible relationships without the formal expectations of marriage, questioning lifelong commitment and the likelihood of divorce.
