No, these images do not show Saudi Arabia’s NEOM stadium

A viral video claims to depict the NEOM Stadium, part of the Saudi Arabian megaproject, sitting atop a skyscraper. In fact, these images are AI-generated by an online user and do not represent the official plans.

The impressive stadium image has been widely shared on social media since late October. Users suggest it shows the stadium designed for The Line, the futuristic city within the NEOM project.

On October 26, Rwandan online user Edwin Musoni posted the video on X, where it quickly gained 3.5 million views. The clip shows a football stadium seemingly perched 1,150 feet (350 metres) above the ground in a futuristic cityscape.

Although a stadium is indeed part of The Line’s plans, the shared images were created with AI and are not part of the official NEOM project visuals.

Reviewing official NEOM accounts on X and Instagram revealed no such video or images of a stadium at that height. However, a December post does feature the NEOM Stadium, which is planned to be constructed 350 metres above ground level.

“The clip he shared features a football stadium seemingly perched atop a skyscraper within a futuristic city.”
“We found no trace of this video clip or images showing a stadium suspended at that height.”

The official NEOM plans include a stadium, but it will not be suspended as depicted in the viral AI-created images.

Author’s summary: Viral AI-generated images falsely show Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Stadium perched high on a skyscraper, but official plans confirm the stadium will be built 350 meters above ground, without such dramatic features.
