The inquiry into a mutilated body found in Fédry, Haute-Saône, has expanded internationally after a 39-year-old French woman was arrested.
The woman was detained Sunday in the Swiss canton of Vaud and has been placed in pretrial detention. Swiss authorities have started a criminal investigation concerning her.
According to Vaud police, the suspect lived in Sainte-Croix near the French border in the apartment of a 75-year-old missing man since October 31. Two days later, a fire broke out in the apartment, and the woman was captured by border guards shortly after.
Swiss investigators suspect the missing man is connected to the body found on the Saône River’s French bank. Identification procedures are ongoing to confirm the victim's identity.
French and Swiss officials are cooperating closely to clarify the timeline and assign responsibility in this brutal crime.
"The victim is believed to have died from hemorrhaging resulting from a blow to the chest before being dismembered."
Summary: This brutal case linking a missing man, an arrested woman, and a mutilated body found near the border remains under intensive French-Swiss investigation.
