Warriors without Curry, Butler and Green for their matchup vs. Kings

Warriors Without Curry, Butler, and Green Against Kings

Golden State faced the Sacramento Kings without their three biggest stars. Stephen Curry did not join the team for the 90-minute bus ride late Tuesday night. By game time Wednesday, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler were also ruled out.

Unconventional Starting Lineup

Coach Steve Kerr started a lineup featuring rookie guard Will Richard, second-year center Quentin Post, and shooting guard Moses Moody alongside Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga. None of these starters had more than four years of NBA experience, making this the least experienced Warriors lineup since April 26, 2012.

“Obviously it’s more difficult when you’re missing your stars, but it’s a great opportunity for a lot of guys,” Kerr said. He added he was looking to see “energy, pace” from the team.

Kerr emphasized aggressive offense and solid defense from this group, aiming to deliver a strong 48-minute effort.

Comparison to Past Lineups

The 2012 lineup featured Klay Thompson, Chris Wright, Jeremy Tyler, Mickell Gladness, and Charles Jenkins, before Kerr’s tenure as head coach.

Game Context

The challenge was somewhat balanced by the Kings also facing a long list of injuries.

Summary: With major stars sidelined, the Warriors turned to a youthful and inexperienced lineup, giving less seasoned players a key opportunity to prove themselves under Coach Kerr’s strategic guidance.
